Begin with the prayer below, then go to the prayer for the day.
God of wisdom and mercy, grant us patience to listen; compassion to be open to other views and opinions; generosity to forgive and grace to change. As you taught us to love our dear neighbor, we pray that you give us strength to be healing instruments of unity and reconciliation.
Day 1: Sunday, May 10
Comforting One, we give thanks for all mothers whose devoted care was often the first face of God in our lives. Energize mother’s who are stressed by life’s demands. Strengthen families so that all children feel safe and nurtured.
Day 2: Monday, May 11
Holy One, we pray for Your precious people who live in insufferable conditions of violence, poverty, lack of safety, and infrastructure. Empower nations to compassionately provide resources so that all may live in the fullness of life.
Day 3: Tuesday, May 12
Today I pray for a transformation of U.S. immigration policy, reforming all parts of the system to eliminate impossible bureaucracy and intentional cruelty. Lead us to practical solutions recognizing the reality and dignity of migration.
Day 4: Wednesday, May 13
Sheltering One, we pray for those who face job losses because of corporate financial pressures, rising costs, and workforce constraints. Ease anxiety over the cost of living. May they find new jobs that are life-giving.
Day 5: Thursday, May 14
God of compassion, we pray for those caring for older parents and vulnerable family members. Give them patience, stability, abundant resources, and caring people to assist them in their journeys.
Day 6: Friday, May 15
God of wisdom, we pray for an end to all violence in the Middle East. May all leaders be infused with the desire for communication and common goals so that a lasting peace may be achieved for all who are in harm’s way.
Day 7: Saturday, May 16
Loving Creator, we pray for all people, animals, and ecosystems at risk from the impact of global warming. Empower us all, especially government leaders, to commit to reduce our contribution to pollution.
