Begin with the prayer below, then go to the prayer for the day.
God of wisdom and mercy, grant us patience to listen; compassion to be open to other views and opinions; generosity to forgive and grace to change. As you taught us to love our dear neighbor, we pray that you give us strength to be healing instruments of unity and reconciliation.
Day 50: Sunday, June 28
Creator God, today we pray to recognize the importance of protecting land, water, and air from pollution. Help us hold corporations accountable for producing single-use and throw-away products that trash our common home.
Day 51: Monday, June 29
Inclusive God, we pray that all can exercise their right to vote. May elected leaders look beyond their personal gain and focus on the common good. May they be mindful of the dignity of every person and their right to be represented.
Day 52: Tuesday, June 30
Today we pray for the millions of people who face illness, hunger, and displacement amid conflict and war. May world leaders turn away from their need to increase military might and embrace diplomacy, peace, and charity.
Day 53: Wednesday, July 1
Healing God, we pray for the people whose lives are threatened by the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. May they be granted access to medical care and needed resources. May medical personnel be protected.
Day 54: Thursday, July 2
Today, we pray for women who are disproportionately affected by disasters. Come to their aid as caregivers for children, elders, and people with disabilities. May humanitarian responses improve, ensuring stability, well-being, and safety.
Day 55: Friday, July 3
Compassionate God, we pray for all our DACA dear neighbors, who are targets of this Administration’s intentional cruelty and find themselves threatened with detention and deportation, devastating their families and our communities.
Day 56: Saturday, July 4
INDEPENDENCE DAY (U.S.) - On the United States’ 250th anniversary, we pray for a more perfect union that prioritizes the dignity and care of all its citizens, and pray the U.S. embraces its unique role to assist all who seek its help.
