100 Days of Prayer (s23): Days 1-7

Begin with the prayer below, then go to the prayer for the day.

God of wisdom and mercy, grant us patience to listen; compassion to be open to other views and opinions; generosity to forgive and grace to change. As you taught us to love our dear neighbor, we pray that you give us strength to be healing instruments of unity and reconciliation.

Day 1: Sunday, May 11

Good Shepherd, lead me to follow Your teachings and take action to serve the Church and any dear neighbor in need. May I hear Your call and answer “Here I am.”

Day 2: Monday, May 12

Today I pray for brothers and sisters who are under pressure to self-deport from the United States at the risk of breaking up their families. I pray that we look beyond agendas and stereotypes to see the dignity and value of migrants today.

Day 3: Tuesday, May 13

Holy Spirit, inspire courage among lawmakers, jurists, and social justice activists to amplify voices and stand as one against threats to social safety nets. Dispel the myth of the undeserving poor, and draw us to help those in need.

Day 4: Wednesday, May 14

Creator of heaven and earth, lead me to be a steward of the shared home You have provided. Help me to stand against environmental degradation and secure a healthy home for the loved ones that will follow in future generations.

Day 5: Thursday, May 15

Today I pray for hotbeds of conflict such as Gaza and Ukraine. May Your compassionate presence transform the hearts of people pursuing violence in the name of power and revenge. I ask for a just peace and healing where needed.

Day 6: Friday, May 16

As diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives are dismantled, I ask for Your love to stir people’s hearts to overcome discrimination, marginalization, or systemic racism seeking new footing. May we have wisdom to treat people equitably.

Day 7: Saturday, May 17

Today I pray for the ministries, non-profits, NGOs, and service organizations who strive to fulfill essential needs, like housing and food security, despite funding interruptions. May they find ways to keep their missions alive.
