God of wisdom and mercy, grant us patience to listen; compassion to be open to other views and opinions; generosity to forgive and grace to change. As you taught us to love our dear neighbor, we pray that you give us strength to be healing instruments of unity and reconciliation.
Day 8: Sunday, September 10
Today I pray that people who are hungry or food insecure are not used as a bargaining chip in budget negotiations. Guide legislators to lead with compassion and make family nutrition a bipartisan priority.
Day 9: Monday, September 11
God of peace, unite nations of the world against war. When a sovereign state is attacked, move the hearts of nations to stand together against the attacker. Prevent nations from tacitly approving aggression to gain advantages from conflict
Day 10: Tuesday, September 12
Today I pray to remember the difficulties that migrants face in fleeing violence, poverty and natural disasters. Guide me in how to help brothers and sisters in need of a home. Inspire me to abandon fear and welcome migrants with love.
Day 11: Wednesday, September 13
God of unity, help me to see the beauty and richness of diversity that You have gifted to the world. Convert my heart to love and appreciate those different from myself. Reveal how I can contribute to an inclusive, equitable world.
Day 12: Thursday, September 14
Today I pray to blunt a real estate doom loop, where vacant office space from remote work turns downtowns into ghost towns. Guide our post-pandemic economy to find solutions that serve the common good and prevent poverty.
Day 13: Friday, September 15
Creator God, alter my habits in ways that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and slow down the heating of our atmosphere. Influence millions to do the same to create trends that lower extreme heat and the suffering it causes.
Day 14: Saturday, September 16
Today I pray for a healthcare system that prioritizes health over profiteering. Lead us to a sweet spot of medical innovation that does not have to be paid for with runaway drug prices and other expenses that drain people’s savings.
