God of wisdom and mercy, grant us patience to listen; compassion to be open to other views and opinions; generosity to forgive and grace to change. As you taught us to love our dear neighbor, we pray that you give us strength to be healing instruments of unity and reconciliation.
Day 1: Sunday, September 3
God of creation, open my eyes to see the overstory of climate change as it plays out decades from now. Inspire all of us to make meaningful change now, to weaken ecological disasters and help our brothers and sisters in the years ahead.
Day 2: Monday, September 4
As I pray today for just and living wages, I also ask for wisdom in the development of artificial intelligence. May the application of AI by corporate titans be tempered with the need for a white collar work force.
Day 3: Tuesday, September 5
All-knowing God, accompany students, teachers, administrators, parents and support staff in the best-ever school year ahead. Let growth and learning flourish, and above all, shield everyone in schools from senseless violence.
Day 4: Wednesday, September 6
Today I pray for those without housing for any reason. May affordable housing without barriers be available to all. Heal those troubled in ways that force them to the street. Provide a place for migrants to call home.
Day 5: Thursday, September 7
God of love, as nations move into election seasons, inspire campaigns to raise ideas above name-calling. Elevate conversation on issues and problem solving rather than culture wars. Empower our votes to reward unity over divisiveness.
Day 6: Friday, September 8
Today I pray that big-business is removed from the prison industry. May profit motives stop influencing the state’s administration of justice and incarceration. Guide this industry with compassion and dignity that heals.
Day 7: Saturday, September 9
God of justice, hold leaders of nations accountable for the deaths for which they are responsible. Bring an end to assassinations and imprisonment of opposition leaders and an end to war at the hands of a few decision makers.
