Begin with the prayer below, then go to the prayer for the day.
God of wisdom and mercy, grant us patience to listen; compassion to be open to other views and opinions; generosity to forgive and grace to change. As you taught us to love our dear neighbor, we pray that you give us strength to be healing instruments of unity and reconciliation.
Day 1: Sunday, January 1
Merciful Lord, we lift up the people of Venezuela amid ongoing hardship and uncertainty. Bring relief to those suffering, protection to the vulnerable, and wisdom to leaders seeking solutions.
Day 2: Monday, January 2
MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY (U.S.) – Today I pray to dismantle systems of institutional racism and to recognize our interconnectedness. Grant me humility to recognize unconscious bias, and wisdom to change.
Day 3: Tuesday, January 3
Creator God, we thank You for the gift of the earth and its seasons. Protect our communities from extreme weather and guide us to care responsibly for our environment. Help us live as faithful stewards of creation.
Day 4: Wednesday, January 4
Healing God, we pray for doctors, nurses, caregivers, and all who tend to the sick. Strengthen them in body and spirit as they offer care with compassion. May they know Your presence in their tireless service.
Day 5: Thursday, January 5
Gracious God, bless teachers as they begin the second half of the school year. Renew their strength, patience, and joy in shaping young minds. May they feel supported, valued, and encouraged in their vital work.
Day 6: Friday, January 6
Loving God, I pray for all people attacked by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). I pray for the communities where ICE has caused destruction. Guide us to paths to citizenship, safety and unity.
Day 7: Saturday, January 7
God of provision, we lift up individuals and families burdened by financial stress and uncertainty. Be near to those struggling to meet basic needs, and grant wisdom and compassion to those shaping economic decisions.
