Begin with the prayer below, then go to the prayer for the day.

God of wisdom and mercy, grant us patience to listen; compassion to be open to other views and opinions; generosity to forgive and grace to change. As you taught us to love our dear neighbor, we pray that you give us strength to be healing instruments of unity and reconciliation.

Day 8: Sunday, September 14

As the faith community celebrates the Season of Creation, I commit to protect all beings, including land, air, and water. May my pledge of simple living allow all beings to live in God’s fullness.

Day 9: Monday, September 15

We pray for all teachers who commit their hearts, minds, and energy to the profession they love. May all school systems be fully funded so that all children can reach their full potential.

Day 10: Tuesday, September 16

God of comfort, may all elderly persons be surrounded with love, community, and access to healthy living resources. May they be recognized as Wisdom Figures, sought for advice on living lives of kindness and gratitude.

Day 11: Wednesday, September 17

As Mary grieved for Jesus on the cross, we grieve for our siblings experiencing war, starvation, displacement, and fear. May violence and oppression cease and love govern the hearts of all leaders.

Day 12: Thursday, September 18

We pray for all in healing professions, including doctors, nurses, and therapists. We are grateful for these ‘unsung heroes’ who bring wholeness to individuals and communities. May they feel the comfort and strength of the Holy One.

Day 13: Friday, September 19

God of wisdom, we pray for the transformation of federal immigration policies that control and terrorize communities. May our leaders understand the true purpose of leadership – to heal, uplift, and empower all peoples.

Day 14: Saturday, September 20

At this time when deep political divisions threaten family and community cohesion, may the fruits of the Holy Spirit dominate discussions, especially love, peace, kindness, and self-control.
