Begin with the prayer below, then go to the prayer for the day.
God of wisdom and mercy, grant us patience to listen; compassion to be open to other views and opinions; generosity to forgive and grace to change. As you taught us to love our dear neighbor, we pray that you give us strength to be healing instruments of unity and reconciliation.
Day 71: Sunday, November 16
Regenerating God, may all those affected by the federal shutdown, including SNAP recipients, children, elderly persons, and furloughed workers, find much needed relief to recover fully and live in God’s abundance.
Day 72: Monday, November 17
Comforting Creator, we pray fervently for an end to violence, hunger, and oppression in Darfur. May the causes of this violence be eradicated and may all sides negotiate a peaceful settlement.
Day 73: Tuesday, November 18
We pray for those impacted by unjust and inhumane immigration policies. We pray for a transformation of heart and mind for those whose hurtful words and actions threaten and endanger our immigrant communities.
Day 74: Wednesday, November 19
We pray for all whose healthcare has become too expensive to maintain. We pray for those who are uninsured or under-insured. May leaders recognize and advocate for health care as a right that is available to all.
Day 75: Thursday, November 20
God of Healing, we pray for all those facing terminal illnesses. May they feel the overwhelming power of the eternal love, comfort, and spiritual strength of the Holy Spirit and be surrounded with compassionate caregivers.
Day 76: Friday, November 21
We pray for all who are marginalized: the unhoused, the immigrants, those experiencing poverty, those experiencing isolation, and newly emancipated foster youth. May all find loving communities and experience comfort.
Day 77: Saturday, November 22
As we approach Thanksgiving, may we be profoundly grateful for all we have and not desire more than what we truly need. May we live in Your abundant love, which does not rely on over-consumption or greed.
