Begin with the prayer below, then go to the prayer for the day.

God of wisdom and mercy, grant us patience to listen; compassion to be open to other views and opinions; generosity to forgive and grace to change. As you taught us to love our dear neighbor, we pray that you give us strength to be healing instruments of unity and reconciliation.

Day 43: Sunday, October 19

Today I pray for a just and lasting peace reached through diplomacy in Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan, and throughout the world.

Day 44: Monday, October 20

Loving God, in this polarized time when I feel called to fight for what I perceive as right, open my eyes to see Your presence in my brothers and sisters. Let me recognize the good in each person and treat them with dignity and respect.

Day 45: Tuesday, October 21

Today I pray for migrant brothers and sisters to find a path to safety and welcome. Heal their homelands that have caused them to flee. Guide them through legal processes of relocation and keep their families together.

Day 46: Wednesday, October 22

God of provision, accompany those who have lost their jobs, have been furloughed, or face challenges to make ends meet. Help people to find meaningful work at a just and living wage, affordable housing, and ample food.

Day 47: Thursday, October 23

As the language of earth sciences are erased along with program funding, I pray that I may contribute to the care of our common home by remaining alert to its needs and making choices to prevent pollution and climate change.

Day 48: Friday, October 24

God of peace, may Your presence be felt in the justice system. May those accused of crimes be treated justly and compassionately regardless of their means. Enable reform and restoration to heal people wherever it is needed.

Day 49: Saturday, October 25

I pray for first responders who come to our aid in disasters, emergencies, and spreading illness. I also lift up to You those who manage our food and shelter safety nets. Care for those who choose to keep all of us safe and healthy.
