Begin with the prayer below, then go to the prayer for the day.
God of wisdom and mercy, grant us patience to listen; compassion to be open to other views and opinions; generosity to forgive and grace to change. As you taught us to love our dear neighbor, we pray that you give us strength to be healing instruments of unity and reconciliation.
Day 36: Sunday, October 12
On this Sabbath Day, I pause from my labor and lay down my burdens. May I step away from the noise and rush of the week and enter Your gift of prayer, pause and contemplation.
Day 37: Monday, October 13
In a time of uncertainty, we pray for all who are burdened by the effects of this government shutdown. For every worker without a paycheck, for every family stretched thin, we ask for Your comfort and Your provision.
Day 38: Tuesday, October 14
God of Strength, we pray for a nation where healthcare is not a privilege, but a human right. We ask You to move in the hearts of those in power and give them wisdom and courage to protect healthcare for all.
Day 39: Wednesday, October 15
We pray for leaders to lead with integrity and humility and choose unity over partisanship. Give them courage to choose people over politics, and to act not for personal gain but for the common good.
Day 40: Thursday, October 16
Merciful God, we lift before You the land that many call Holy; a land scarred by war and generations of pain. We pray for the people of Palestine and Israel as they each long for peace.
Day 41: Friday, October 17
God of Comfort, we pray for courage for those who feel rejected by their communities and often are misunderstood. We ask You to be their refuge and surround them with safety, compassion, love, and acceptance.
Day 42: Saturday, October 18
Light of Love, we commit loving prayers to our global siblings affected by the elimination of international assistance programs. May healthcare, nutrition, and safety net programs are available for all to live in peace and prosperity.
