Begin with the prayer below, then go to the prayer for the day.
God of wisdom and mercy, grant us patience to listen; compassion to be open to other views and opinions; generosity to forgive and grace to change. As you taught us to love our dear neighbor, we pray that you give us strength to be healing instruments of unity and reconciliation.
Day 1: Sunday, September 7
God of compassion, I pray that my elected representatives successfully affect peace through diplomacy around the globe. Guide me to advocate for an end to conflicts. Comfort and restore victims of war in Ukraine, Gaza and more.
Day 2: Monday, September 8
Today I pray for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Restore funding, expertise and capacity to protect all of the public from significant health threats.
Day 3: Tuesday, September 9
Holy Spirit, inspire elected leaders to let go of “America First” thinking that creates winners and losers, limitations and greed. Empower decision making to benefit those in need wherever they may be. Let no corner be neglected.
Day 4: Wednesday, September 10
Today I pray that younger generations may find affordable housing and food. Lead me to advocate for affordability issues across all sectors of society so that our local communities may experience a resurgence of hope.
Day 5: Thursday, September 11
Holy One, guide me to resources that may help people in need around the globe in the absence of USAID funded humanitarian services.
Day 6: Friday, September 12
Today I pray for comprehensive immigration reform that provides a path to citizenship or meaningful work. Allow my prayers to become actions rather than an ongoing wedge issue between political parties.
Day 7: Saturday, September 13
Giver of gifts, I ask for faith, foresight, and flexibility to adapt to the times we are living in, to influence them for the common good and Your glory. Lead me to decisions that alleviate conditions causing poverty and suffering.
