Begin with the prayer below, then go to the prayer for the day.
God of wisdom and mercy, grant us patience to listen; compassion to be open to other views and opinions; generosity to forgive and grace to change. As you taught us to love our dear neighbor, we pray that you give us strength to be healing instruments of unity and reconciliation.
Day 1: Sunday, May 12
God of love, today we pray for the mothers who give it their all and constantly recreate themselves to be a healing presence for their loved ones. May they find Your support and divine healing.
Day 2: Monday, May 13
We pray for civil liberties be respected, for voting rights for all who are eligible to vote be restored, and for deceptive vote-suppression efforts be eliminated. Guide us to participate in an inclusive democracy.
Day 3: Tuesday, May 14
Merciful God, I pray for strength to be a reconciling presence when difficult conversations arise. May my responses be shaped by my desire to bring about dialogue and unity.
Day 4: Wednesday, May 15
Today we pray for dialogue at our university campuses. May we stop “othering” our dear neighbor. Guide us to explore ways that can lead us to reconciling conversations.
Day 5: Thursday, May 16
God of wisdom, grant me the knowledge that I may hear with an understanding heart. Lead me to be a prayerful presence for those who hunger for a compassionate heart.
Day 6: Friday, May 17
Today I pray that in my conversations with others I make it a point to listen to learn rather than be quick to get my point across or strive to change minds without dialogue.
Day 7: Saturday, May 18
God of peace, I pray you defuse the violence in our world today. Guide and re- energize our hearts and minds so that we see each other as brothers and sisters in union with You.
