Begin with the prayer below, then go to the prayer for the day.
God of wisdom and mercy, grant us patience to listen; compassion to be open to other views and opinions; generosity to forgive and grace to change. As you taught us to love our dear neighbor, we pray that you give us strength to be healing instruments of unity and reconciliation.
Day 71: Sunday, July 20
Jesus, our Teacher, you opened your arms with loving compassion to the outcast, the sick, the sinner. Break open the hardened hearts of all leaders, so that compassion may be at the heart of all public policy.
Day 72: Monday, July 21
We pray for those who died in the flooding in Kerrville, Texas. May the God of Comfort console all affected, and may all people impacted by severe weather events receive needed resources to rebuild.
Day 73: Tuesday, July 22
We pray fervently for global neighbors living amid poverty, oppression, and violence. May leaders of all nations be empowered by God’s justice, and commit national wealth to their people, so all may live in the fullness of life.
Day 74: Wednesday, July 23
Loving One, the terror inflicted upon immigrant communities from cruel, unjust, and inhumane ICE raids leave us wounded and angry. We pray for human dignity, due process, and comprehensive immigration reform now.
Day 75: Thursday, July 24
Holy One, we recognize the dire consequences of the cancellation of programs like USAID and PEPFAR. We ardently pray that these programs are restored and protected to save lives, and maintain the dignity of every person.
Day 76: Friday, July 25
Creator, we are anxious witnesses to the multiple threats to Your precious Creation—pollution, ocean warming, and hazards to animals. Energize us to safeguard all ecosystems, recognizing the intimate interconnection of all life.
Day 77: Saturday, July 26
Welcoming One, may the U.S. government recognize the desperate need faced by so many immigrants for safety, shelter, and protection of families. May we become, once again, a beacon of hope with humane immigration policy.
