Begin with the prayer below, then go to the prayer for the day.
God of wisdom and mercy, grant us patience to listen; compassion to be open to other views and opinions; generosity to forgive and grace to change. As you taught us to love our dear neighbor, we pray that you give us strength to be healing instruments of unity and reconciliation.
Day 15: Sunday, February 2
God of Compassion, we recognize all the migrant workers who work hard to contribute to our nation’s economy. We ask for mercy upon all who live in anguish as they fear for their lives under the threat of deportation.
Day 16: Monday, February 3
Today, I pray for all our brothers and sisters who are our neighbors and members of numerous and diverse faith communities. They are not criminals and deserve to be acknowledged and be treated with respect.
Day 17: Tuesday, February 4
God of Justice, we pray the new administration has mercy on parents who are threatened with deportation, and whose children live in fear of being separated from their them. May legislators find compassion in their hearts.
Day 18: Wednesday, February 5
I pray we inspire each other to have strength and courage to honor the dignity of every human being in our midst. May we all speak the truth in love, and may we work for the common good of this nation and the world.
Day 19: Thursday, February 6
Inclusive God, we ask You to have mercy upon our brothers and sisters in our nation who are terrified. We pray for people who feel outcast due to their identification as gay, lesbian and transgender and fear for their lives.
Day 20: Friday, February 7
Today, we pray for our hardworking immigrants who put their health at risk when picking our crops, who work late shifts cleaning buildings, who care for patients, who look after our children, and serve in other vital roles everyday.
Day 21: Saturday, February 8
Loving God, today as we celebrate the Feast of St. Bakhita, we pray for all the migrants who are at risk of being trafficked on their journey to a better life. May You protect them and embrace them with hope.
