100 Days of Prayer (s22): Days 1-7

Begin with the prayer below, then go to the prayer for the day.

God of wisdom and mercy, grant us patience to listen; compassion to be open to other views and opinions; generosity to forgive and grace to change. As you taught us to love our dear neighbor, we pray that you give us strength to be healing instruments of unity and reconciliation.

Day 1: Sunday, January 19

Gracious God, I pray with gratitude for the global community coming to the aid of Los Angeles fire victims. I ask for Your comfort and provision for any lost loved ones and homes. May lawmakers take our climate seriously.

Day 2: Monday, January 20

MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY (U.S.) - Loving God, I have faith that the arc of the moral universe bends toward justice, as MLK once quoted Theodore Parker. Strengthen my patience, and please hasten Your justice to end suffering.

Day 3: Tuesday, January 21

Today I pray that the representatives I helped elect will consider the care of all people and the common good rather than partisan and special interests. May we all act responsibly to care for every person no matter where they come from.

Day 4: Wednesday, January 22

Holy Spirit, rest upon those whom have fled their homelands in search of prosperity and freedom from violence and oppression. May their families be reunited and may they find abundance, hospitality and kindness.

Day 5: Thursday, January 23

Today I pray for housing security. Restore the lost homes that have been wiped away in natural disasters. Prevent real estate speculators from driving costs up and pricing most people out of a place of shelter.

Day 6: Friday, January 24

Creator of heaven and earth, enable me to discover courage, confidence, and truth that defeats the dehumanizing racism across society, from hidden biases to systemic racism.

Day 7: Saturday, January 25

God of peace, I plead with You to end conflicts raging across our common home, especially in the Middle East and Ukraine. Through You, may these communities find and end of war, and restoration.
