100 Days of Prayer (s21): Days 8-14

Begin with the prayer below, then go to the prayer for the day.

God of wisdom and mercy, grant us patience to listen; compassion to be open to other views and opinions; generosity to forgive and grace to change. As you taught us to love our dear neighbor, we pray that you give us strength to be healing instruments of unity and reconciliation.

Day 8: Sunday, September 8

God of Love, during this Season of Creation, I re-commit to actions that reduce fossil fuel use and protects ecosystems. I pray I serve as an example of love and respect to those around me.

Day 9: Monday, September 9

I pray that when I’m faced with worldly demands of consumerism and self- satisfaction, I may turn to the words of St. Ignatius: “Give me only your love and your grace, that’s enough for me.”

Day 10: Tuesday, September 10

Ever-sustaining God, bring forth your blessings on those who are unhoused due to mental illness and addiction. I pray we respond with the “loaves and fishes” of expanding services and housing so that people may live in full dignity.

Day 11: Wednesday, September 11

I pray all candidates in this election compassionately recognize the needs of our country and strive to bring comfort to the afflicted and justice to those who are oppressed.

Day 12: Thursday, September 12

God of Unity, strengthen families with Your love. May children have the example of loving parents, inspiring them as adults to be healthy and demonstrate God’s love to all.

Day 13: Friday, September 13

Holy Spirit, we are heartbroken by governments who turn against their people. I pray they learn from past violence and encourage healing practices that lead to common goals that bring about peace, protection and unity.

Day 14: Saturday, September 14

Wonderful Creator, instead of laying my problems at Your feet, today I express overwhelming gratitude for the marvels of Your hands: creatures of Earth and sky, gorgeous landscapes, animals of the sea, and one another. Thank you.
