100 Days of Prayer (s20): Days 22-28

Begin with the prayer below, then go to the prayer for the day.

God of wisdom and mercy, grant us patience to listen; compassion to be open to other views and opinions; generosity to forgive and grace to change. As you taught us to love our dear neighbor, we pray that you give us strength to be healing instruments of unity and reconciliation.

Day 22: Sunday, June 2

God of creation, strengthen my will to eliminate plastics from my life. Help me make choices to move past the cheap convenience of plastic packaging, so that I may care for our Earth by ridding it of long-lasting pollution.

Day 23: Monday, June 3

Today I pray for my brothers and sisters who are unhoused. Remind me of grace and that there’s no such thing as the undeserving poor. Help me contribute to solutions that provide a home for anyone who needs it.

Day 24: Tuesday, June 4

Loving God, empower me to treat voting as an act of love. Enable voting to be fair and accessible to all who are eligible to cast a ballot. Let this love, expressed in my vote, support the common good and the most vulnerable in our society.

Day 25: Wednesday, June 5

Today I pray for victims of war in Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine and other places in the grip of violence. May these conflicts cease immediately and those bearing the heaviest burdens of war find peace and restoration.

Day 26: Thursday, June 6

Holy Spirit, breathe life into my relationships so that I may always have a conversation with someone, even when we don’t agree. Protect us from divisive propaganda and deep fake news that attempt to drive wedges between us.

Day 27: Friday, June 7

Today I pray to end gun violence. Let us trust in You for our safety rather than lean toward a weapons industry that peddles fear, destruction and tragedy. Enable common sense to overcome roadblocks to mitigating gun violence.

Day 28: Saturday, June 8

God of justice, reform the criminal justice system to remove profit motives from the bail and incarceration industries. Let justice be done so that economic pressure does not force someone to accept a charge or plea just to survive.
